In the Ace Hardware parking lot near my house because I have a steep driveway and I wanted flat ground, plus I needed an 8 mm wrench.
Here's what it sounded like before I replaced it:
And here's what it sounds like now:
According to my records from the original owner last time the belt was replaced was 54,000 miles ago. I got a look at it after I got it off and boy was it cracked, it really needed replacing
I got so many weird looks. I wonder what the roadkill crew have to deal with when they do stuff like this.

Ok, caveats about YT sounds quality and whatnot aside: A bearing somewhere in there (I'd guess alternator) sounds...grindy.

I hate having a steep driveway. Makes it hard to do work and my exhaust scrapes on the driveway at stock height.
But looks and sounds much better. Was it hard?
I don't understand why people would give looks for fixing your truck. That's nothing weird.

It's the power steering pump. I'm just gonna let it die and when it does replace it

It wasn't very difficult per se it was just kind of awkward getting in there

Well, it could be pushing cold fluid or need a flush.
Is the tensioner still original?

Nah, I had a PS leak when I bought the truck. It probably damaged the pump a bit. I think the tensioner is original. When I replaced the PS hose, I replaced all the fluid, so Its not that. I checked everything before I put the new belt on. The water pump pulley is a little loose, but seems to be aligned correctly and functioning okay, and the PS bearing grinds. But other than that, everything is really free flowing with no issues.

I could see how that's awkward. I have a big engine bay so I have lots of space!

It was awkward mainly because I had to take the intake hose off to access the tensioner and the fan kept on getting in the way of my ratchet while it was on the tensioner. But it was like a 25 min job. It was pretty straight forward to be honest.

Because of the shaker, there's a lot more intake tubing. So I had a similar problem. We had to get a little creative.
I need a picture of my actual engine bay...

The weird looks, one time a friend and i were working outside of a sears on his 98 Mustang, we were bleeding the brakes, and then the police came but not because they didn't want us there, they thought we were stealing the wheels. They just made sure the car was ours (my friend's, who is also here in oppo but has a chinese letters as a name) And then they left.
